Design Institute Soyuzkhimpromproekt was established by a decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR In 1953 as a branch of one of the Moscow special design institutes to solve the tasks of providing a number of chemical industry enterprises with documentation for construction.
The Institute's activities in the first years were aimed at developing projects for auxiliary workshops and simple projects for main production facilities.
By 1957, the main production and auxiliary divisions were formed, which still form the Foundation of the Institute's organizational and production structure.
In 1975, the Institute was transformed from a branch into an independent state Union special Institute for the design of chemical industrial enterprises Soyuzkhimpromproekt within the Ministry of mechanical Engineering of the USSR.
The Institute was designated as the main organization of the USSR for the design of industrial explosives production.
During the period of the Institute's activity as part of the Ministry of mechanical Engineering of the USSR, design work was performed for more than 50 enterprises and research institutes in the industry.
Of these, the Institute had the status of a General project organization in relation to 26 enterprises.
The geographical location of the Institute's customers included the territory of Ukraine, the republics of Central Asia, the southern and Middle Urals, Siberia, the Far East and the North.
The Institute participated in the preparation of documentation for the construction of chemical enterprises in Iraq and the Republic of Syria.
After the liquidation of the Ministry of mechanical Engineering and the collapse of the USSR, orders for design work were sharply reduced and then completely disappeared.
Despite the General economic crisis, a multiple drop in construction volumes, non-payments and the departure of some qualified personnel to more prosperous activities, the Institute's management managed to maintain its core intellectual potential.
Having considerable experience in designing dangerous, especially dangerous and technically complex production facilities, the Institute offered its services to enterprises of the chemical and petrochemical complex of the Republic of Tatarstan, where it was in demand by such leading enterprises as JSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim, JSC Kazanorgsintez, JSC Nizhnekamskshina, JSC Tatneft, JSC Nefis-cosmetics, which later became its regular Customers.
In 1997, by decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Institute was attached as a separate structural division to the Kazan State Technological University (currently Kazan National Research Technological University).
The purpose of joining was to create a research and design center in the Volga region for the development and implementation of innovative technologies in the field of chemistry, petro chemistry and oil refining at the region's enterprises.
Since the beginning of the new century, the Institute has been intensively increasing its personnel potential, its qualifications, the technical equipment of designers ' workplaces and the material base for engineering surveys, the volume of design and survey work, expanding the range of customers and design specialization.
The average annual number of employees of the Institute is 560-580 people, including designers, surveyors, mechanical designers and experts, including technical managers, are about 80 percent.

Specialists-designers of technological installations and engineering systems are certified by Rostechnadzor for the right to design hazardous production facilities. The Institute is a member of self-regulating organizations: SRO Union PROJECTCENTER; non-profit Association SRO Volgakamizyskaniya
All workplaces of specialists are equipped with modern personal computers connected to a local network. All users of the network have access to the electronic archive of the Institute's projects and centralized e-mail. Since 2005, it has been using information modeling software in the development of various sections of designed objects. To implement projects, we use information modeling tools based on modern software solutions from Bentley Systems and Autodesk that meet the needs of the design Institute for complex design of objects in various industries.
The equipment of the conference hall of the Institute allows you to conduct video conferences with customers and other contractors who have the appropriate capabilities.
The Institute has the necessary equipment for the production of engineering-geological and engineering-geodetic surveys, including three drilling rigs, equipment that allows you to carry out topography using Glonass / GPS systems.
The Institute has implemented a quality management system certified according to the Russian standard GOST R ISO 9001-2015 (ISO 9001-2015).
